Interdisciplinary Conference Funding for MSU Graduate Students
For any MSU graduate student to attend conference or meetings with an interdisciplinary environmental focus. Students must present their work. Up to $750 per request.

Interdisciplinary Conference Funding for ESPP Specialization Students
Additional funds for ESPP specialization students to attend conferences or meetings with an interdisciplinary environmental focus. Students must present their work. Students will receive up to $1000 in total.

Doctoral Recruiting Fellowship
Funds for entering MSU doctoral students. Application must be submitted by department. One year of support. $35,000/ year. Five fellowships will be awarded.

National Science Foundation Grants conference
ESPP sponsored a trip to the NSF Grants Conference March 11-12 designed for new faculty, researchers and administrators to gain key insights into a wide range of current issues at NSF. Water Initiative Research Grants
The Water Initiative Research Grants (WIRG) are intended to support interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research efforts that advance water sciences (broadly defined) and lead to application for major external funding. The Center for Water Sciences and Environmental Science and Policy Program administer grants, with additional funding from Michigan AgBio Research. RFP closed until further notice.
December 15 and April 15 annually through April 2014. (The annual April 15 call will depend on funding availability- please contact Erin Dreelin for information)

Visiting Water Scholar Program
The Visiting Water Scholar Program (VWSP) will bring experts to MSU for extended visits with the goal of fostering interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary initiatives through symposia, workshops, and other active engagement with researchers on campus. The Center for Water Sciences and Environmental Science and Policy Program administer grants, with additional funding from Michigan AgBio Research.

ESPP - CWS Innovation Grants (2010)
The Center for Water Sciences and Environmental Science and Policy Program provided funding (with assistance from the Institute of Water Research) to enhancing collaborations on campus that focus on water.

Awardees:

  • Arika Ligmann-Zielinska (lead), "Lakes as Complex Socio-Ecological Systems: Exploring the Causalities between Human Land Use Decisions and Landscape Limnological Processes to Inform Sustainable Water Conservation Policies"
  • Mark Axelrod (lead), "Sustainable Aquifer Management under Enhanced Turkey-Syria Relations"
  • Susan Masten (lead), "Use of X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy to Study the Reduction of U(VI) by Zero Valent Iron"
