http://animalstudies.msu.edu/specialization.html
The Graduate Specialization in Animal Studies: Social Science and Humanities Perspectives, which is administered by the Department of Sociology, provides graduate students with basic knowledge of relationships between humans and other animals and how they are linked together in a fragile biosphere. The graduate specialization is available as an elective for students who are enrolled in master's or doctoral degree programs at Michigan State University. With the approval of the department and college that administers the student's degree program, the courses that are used to satisfy the specialization may also be used to satisfy the requirements for a master's or doctoral degree.

The Ecological Food and Farming Systems (EFFS) specialization is a graduate program available as an elective for masters and doctoral students enrolled at Michigan State University. The specialization is sponsored by the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. First offered in Fall 2009, EFFS provides an active academic exploration of sustainable agriculture and food systems, encompassing biological, ecological, sociological, economic and political aspects of food, fiber and fuel production. Environmental Science and Policy
http://www.environment.msu.edu/specialization/index.html
Environmental professionals need both disciplinary depth and interdisciplinary breadth, in order to understand the context of their research and be able to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams. Doctoral students in the Environmental Science and Policy (ESP) Specialization pursue a Ph.D. in one of MSU's many existing doctoral programs that have an environmental focus. In addition, they complete four ESP courses, each designed to provide an understanding of how various disciplines conceptualize environmental issues and how scientific information can be brought to bear on environmental decision-making and environmental policy.
Food and Agricultural Standards
http://www.ifas.msu.edu/education
Food and agricultural standards (FAS) are generally considered as convenient, neutral, and benign means for handling issues of technical compatibility and achieving common goods such as food safety, environmental protection, and worker health and safety. However, standards are also shaped by political and strategic considerations and have significant ethical import. They define the criteria by which products, processes, and producers are judged on technical, economic, social, environmental, legal, and moral dimensions. And without standards, our contemporary world could not exist. The Certificate and Specialization programs in FAS introduce students to these dimensions of standards and their applicability to contemporary agrifood systems broadly conceived.

http://www.gjec.msu.edu/home.htm
Gender, Justice and Environmental Change is a graduate specialization available as an elective
for students who are enrolled in master's and doctoral degree programs
at Michigan State University. The specialization is sponsored jointly
by the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the College
of Social Science. This program, first offered in Fall 2000, is
the first of its kind in the nation explicitly focusing on the intersection
of gender, environmental change, and social and environmental justice.
The program is designed in particular to examine these issues and
processes from both local and global perspectives, challenging traditional
dichotomies between the First and Third World, the North and the
South.
